Western Libraries Undergraduate Research Awards (WLURAs)

Evaluation

Adjudication Committee

Applications will be judged by an Adjudication Committee made up of Western Libraries’ staff. Each application will be examined blindly and evaluated over three rounds using the WLURA rubrics. The adjudicators for the 2023-24 competition are Kelly Hatch, Brian McMillan, David McCord, Christy Sich, Marcus Stewart, and Jason Dyck.

Faculty Support

If a project is chosen as a finalist, the Adjudication Committee will request that the instructor or project advisor complete a recommendation form to aid in the Committee’s evaluation of the project.

Rubrics

The Adjudication Committee will evaluate the research questions from the online application form, the research projects, and bibliographies according to the following three rubrics:

• Research Reflections Rubric
• Research Project Rubric
• Bibliography Rubric

Applications will be received, adjudicated, and awarded based upon the following timeline:

• April 30, 2024 – Application deadline
• July 30, 2024 – Notification of winners
• Fall 2024 (TBD) – Award ceremony and reception
