Abstract
This report chronicles my transformative journey through Experiential Learning placements at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre (ROMHC) and Investing in Children (IIC). Beginning with initial self-doubt, I recount how these immersive placements shaped me into a confident and skilled individual. At ROMHC, my participation in the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) led to the creation of informative infographics, presentations, and active involvement in major discussions. Through this experience, I gained invaluable insights into mental health care, communication, and advocacy, fostering both confidence in my abilities and a deep passion for mental health advocacy. Similarly, at IIC, I further honed teamwork, organization, and leadership skills while coordinating events such as the Kids Power Conference and managing the Blue Boxes program. My time with IIC built upon the personal and professional growth I experienced at ROMHC, solidifying my belief in my capabilities and my commitment to making a positive impact. These experiences profoundly influenced my development, both professionally and personally, underscoring the transformative potential of Experiential Learning opportunities. As I move forward, I am grateful to carry with me the lessons learned and connections made.
