Description

Several research libraries offer fellowships to faculty members and graduate students, but they are not always easy to find. Since these collections are scattered across various countries, there is not one central way of searching for them. To assist graduate students in the Arts and Humanities at Western University, I created a brief introduction to library fellowships using ArcGIS Story Maps. “Library Fellowships: A Brief Introduction” offers an overview of the types of fellowships available, a list of some of their benefits for researchers, and some advice on how to write a strong proposal. It also features an interactive map pinpointing applicants to private and university libraries across the United States and other parts of the world that offer library fellowships. In this lightning talk, I offer a brief explanation of why StoryMaps are useful tools for educating graduate students on library research beyond their own institution.
