Abstract

In this paper I think through the problems and contradictions embedded in community music engagements in post capitalistic society. I consider the possibility that even as community music seeks to afford spaces so that musical engagements and practices remain diverse and multiple, this diversity may be serving the hegemonic unity of capitalism and may, in some cases be reproducing the systems of inequity community music specifically wishes to challenge.
