Abstract
My time with the Head and Heart Fellowship consisted largely of writing a book review on Jason J. Washburn’s novel titled “Nonsuicidal Self-Injury: Advances in Research and Practice” to help broaden my understanding of Nonsuicidal Self-Injury for research purposes outside of the fellowship. I also helped out with Western University’s Global Health Equity (GHE) Hub through several tasks such as writing and uploading blog posts that focus on aspects of global health that need further attention, interviewing global health researchers and leaders, and helping improve the layout and accessible resources on the hub. The two blog posts I wrote consisted of one focused on Indigenous Health Inequity and Hepatitis C in Egypt. I then interviewed two people that were also uploaded as blog posts. I first interviewed Dr. Gerald McKinley on his research with Indigenous communities, and then interviewed Sara Dalo on her work as executive director of a rural health clinic. I also assisted the GHE Hub by reaching out to student clubs and groups who may be interested in joining/collaborating with the Hub, brainstorming ways to improve the layout and organization of the Hub’s blog posts and events section, and researching various training modules that we could add to the Hub for our users.
