Abstract

The first plenary session, Musical Gumbo, offered an overview of Louisiana music: jazz music , R&B, Cajun, and the rich opera tradition of New Orleans, the latter dating from 1796; the second plenary considered the future of the library catalog(ue). Library instruction for music majors, new CD-ROM databases for music (RILM) and useful librarian-created websites were highlighted. Early music publishing in the UK was the topic of the Bibliography Roundtable (John Day's Psalm Books; John Marsh and Handel; John Walsh and stamp duties).
