Abstract

This session provided an introduction to doing research using social media data. It covered popular social media platforms for research including Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, different ways of getting access to social media data, common types of analysis, useful tools and ethical considerations. No advance knowledge of programming, APIs or statistics was assumed, and multiple methods of accessing data were covered.
