Description

The Canadian Suburbs research project used census data and ArcMap to classify every metropolitan neighbourhood to answer the research question, ‘Is Canada a Suburban Nation?’ [Answer: Yes]. This research demonstrated that 67% of the Canadian population resides in suburbs and maps the spatial structure of metropolitan areas. The research method and an atlas can be found in the report Still Suburban? www.canu.ca/resources The maps and data are also available at our research website CanadianSuburbs.ca and can be downloaded to explore in Google Earth. We will demonstrate the research method, give a lightning tour of all 33 metropolitan areas and give a live demonstration on the use of the Google Earth version.
