Abstract

My original inspiration was the miniseries, Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madame C.J. Walker. The show is about the life of the first African American self-made millionaire. For me, this poem communicates the internal passion of a black woman feminist and activist working towards some sort of growth outcome.
