Abstract

Urinary tract infections remain a common problem affecting a wide population, especially adult females. The purpose of this paper is to provide an understanding of the pathogenesis, and to recommend practical approaches to therapy. Due to the size of the field, comments have been limited to acute and recurrent urinary tract infection in women. © 1993 The International Urogynecology Journal.
