Abstract
What can classical architecture theory, collided with early modern studies of topography, tell us about Middleton and Rowley’s Beatrice Joanna, the Bad Girl par excellence of early modern theatre? This chapter reflects on what spectators to the original 17th century performances of The Changeling would have known about architecture, math, geography, and urban living in order to craft an imagined Beatrice Joanna who could outwit her male counterparts in matters of built space and offer her audiences a profound lesson in cultural change.
