Abstract
Role based access control (RBAC) has been a very active research area for a long time. A lot of RBAC models have been published. The Role Graph Model has been proposed by Nyanchama and Osborn. The original role graph model for role-based access control assumed a centralized administration of itself. Conflict of interest for the centralized model was discussed. More recently, a decentralized administrative model for the role graph model has been introduced by Wang and Osborn. In Wang’s model, concept of administrative domain was introduced in the role graph model which made the identification of conflict of interest more complex. In this thesis, we extend the administrative role graph model with the control of conflict of interest. The algorithms for managing the constraints are discussed. We also provide the
revised algorithms of operations on the role graph such as role addition and privilege addition which may cause conflicts. How to handle the conflicts and retain the role graph properties are presented as well. The new administrative model with conflict of interest fits nicely in the real world and helps to maintain security in a business environment
