Welcome to the Canadian Association of African Studies 2021 Annual Conference!
In selecting our theme for this year – “Achieving Ubuntu: Reframing Equity, Partnership and Social Change” we hoped to inspire interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary inquiry as well as perspectives in relation to the ongoing exploration of anti Black racism and anti colonialism. The African philosophy of Ubuntu – “I am what I am, because of who we all are” offers a powerful framework through which members of CAAS can engage with our theme.
Over the course of our Annual Conference, we hope to achieve an Ubuntu spirit. Thank you for joining us.

", nous espérions inspirer une recherche interdisciplinaire ou multidisciplinaire ainsi que des perspectives en relation avec l'exploration continue du racisme anti-noir.e et de l'anti-colonialisme. La philosophie africaine de l'Ubuntu – « Je suis ce que je suis, parce que nous sommes tous ce que nous sommes » - offre un cadre puissant par lequel les membres de l’ACÉA peuvent s'engager dans notre thème.
Au cours de notre congrès annuel, nous espérons atteindre un esprit Ubuntu. Merci de vous joindre à nous.
