Shelley McKellar, PhD, is the Hannah Chair in the History of Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and Associate Professor in the Department of History at Western University. Her research focuses on the history of surgery, medical technology and material culture of medicine. She is the author of several books and articles, including the newly-released book Artificial Hearts: The Allure and Ambivalence of a Controversial Medical Technology by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2018.
