From the Editor

We are very proud to present Volume 13 of Totem: The U.W.O. Journal of Anthropology. This year's volume has been the product of a great deal of team work, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to entire editing team. It was your collective work and expertise that made Volume 13 such a success.

The goal this year was to get as many people involved in the editing process as possible. To that end, the Anthropology Society made some changes to the structure of the editing staff this year. We now have three positions instead of two for the sub-disciplinary editors: Archaeology, Physical Anthropology, and Socio-cultural Anthropology. This year they were filled by Lindsay Foreman, Barb Hewitt, and Alicia Grimes respectively. I would like to thank all of them for all of their hard work and advice in the process of selection of submissions.

Totem showcases exceptional work at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. This year we were not only overwhelmed by the number of submissions, we are extremely pleased with their quality and diversity. I would like to thank everyone who submitted, and I encourage all of you to submit again in the future. Congratulations to this year's contributors.

I would like to extend my thanks to Sacha Geer, editor-in-chief of Volume 12, for the great advice in all aspects of producing this year's volume. Alicia Grimes was extremely helpful with the difficult parts of the formatting. A special thanks to Greg Carnes of Robarts Imaging for the help with the most persistent formatting problems. I would also like to thank David Kanatawakhon for allowing us to use his beautiful art for our cover again this year.
