The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has world recognized strength in wind engineering associated with the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory and the  Wind Engineering, Energy and Environment (WindEEE) Research Institute. The Department is associated with the internationally renowned Geotechnical Research Centre and the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction and the Insurance Research Lab for Better Homes.
