Abstract
Recent demographic patterns reveal that Jewish men are routinely marrying women who are non-Jews or converts, and responding outreach initiatives, in the name of Jewish continuity, are encouraging North American Jewry to embrace this trend. It is doing so, however, at the expense of single Jewish-born women who are overlooked not only by Jewish men, but by the Jewish community, and by contemporary religious and sociological scholarship. This essay argues that this is a perilous approach for the single Jewish-born woman who is left to endure a new JAP label: Jewish And Passed-over.
