Volume 7, Issue 2 (2017) Applying Legal Principles
The Western Journal of Legal Studies is proud to publish the second issue in its seventh volume, "Applying Legal Principles". The issue focuses on how best to apply existing legal principles and rules to the current Canadian legal system. The articles address the potential role of punitive damages in the wake of the Supreme Court of Canada's Bhasin v Hrynew decision, the appropriate role of the duty to consult in trade negotiations, and whether to apply the immunity provisions found for white-collar crimes elsewhere in the Criminal Code. In addition, this issue contains a brief policy comment on how Ontario could borrow laws from other jurisdictions in order to promote environmentally-friendly initiatives. This issue marks the culmination of an exciting and successful year for the Journal, and we appreciate your readership.
