My original inspiration was the miniseries, Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madame C.J. Walker. The show is about the life of the first African American self-made millionaire. For me, this poem communicates the internal passion of a black woman feminist and activist working towards some sort of growth outcome.

Sofiat Ajibowu is currently working towards an Honours Specialization in Political Science degree alongside the Law and Public Policy Certificate at Kings University College. Growing up in the Global North and South has instilled in them a desire to enhance the lives of marginalized people through activism, development projects, and institutional reform.
