From the Co-Editors
For almost twenty years TOTEM has been publishing creative anthropological works from students around the world. Contributions from archaeological, linguistic, socio-cultural and bioarchaeological research have provided readers with insight into the research of graduate and undergraduate students pursuing the study of humans. Our goal for this issue was to continue with the phenomenal work of our predecessors and to further our connections outside the discipline.
We are proud to announce that this year TOTEM was signed with EBSCOhost, an academic search engine, which will feature the current volume (21) and all previous publications. This partnership will allow our online access to reach bigger audiences and better publicize the research of our contributors.
It is with great honour that we announce the winner of this year’s Editor’s Choice Award, Peige Desjarlais with her paper “Excavating Zion: Archaeology and Nation-Making in Palestine/Israel” – a fascinating and worthwhile read that bridges archaeology and sociocultural analyses in an extremely creative way. Furthermore, we would like to thank Dr. Douglass St. Christian for acting as the unofficial TOTEM advisor over the years, and we wish him all the best in his upcoming endeavours.
We received many interesting submissions this year and would like to thank everyone for choosing TOTEM. Our authors did an astounding job throughout the lengthy process and the peer-reviewers maintained the integrity of our journal with insightful remarks and encouraging edits. We thank everyone who helped out with this issue, past editors, colleagues and peers in the department of Anthropology at the University of Western Ontario. We hope you will enjoy the journal this year and look forward to your submissions next fall!
