This Kind of Love

Writer's Statement:

My poetry explores those nostalgic memories Black people all around the world hold close to our hearts. This poem is a reminder of the tradition of cooking by Nigerian women, including my mother whom I learned this tradition from. My mother's cooking is a form of love, the love I deserve and it cannot be replaced. I'd hope every Black person who reads this poem remembers all the feelings of love and family that come from eating homemade food.
