Artist Statement:

Birth of a Tribe, 24x36 in

This was a Black-history themed painting inspired by traditional paintings and carvings of African market women and I wanted to do a colourful take on that. The colours were inspired by things like true feminine essence, intense vibrancy and so forth. Watching all the colours mesh seamlessly was my favourite part of creating this piece.

About the Artist:

Audrey Cofie is an up-and-coming painter, fine artist, and designer who portrays a strong interest in realism and abstract and impressionistic paintings. The vibrancy and strong hues are common hallmarks in her works that make her unique in her work. She studied Fine Arts with a Minor in Media Information and Technoculture at Western University and continues to create and work in her studio in London Ontario.
