Abstract
The integration of the world market economies (globalization) has led to movement of investment capital across jurisdictions but only an insignificant portion of the circulating capital gets into emerging market economies. The competition in product and capital markets, which resulted from globalization, has exposed the differences in corporate ownership and governance patterns in the major economic jurisdictions of the world. In view of the effect of globalization on the world economy and particularly the effect on emerging market economies, this thesis discusses the following four issues: determinants ' . - : : Of external finance, convergence of corporate law rules and governance patterns, the role of corporate law in facilitating investments in emerging market economies and the benefits of investment in emerging market economies.
