Abstract
After the publication in 1596 of the Académica by Pedro de Valencia, one of the most outstanding questions concerns the possible inclusion of Valencia in the sceptical school. The way to pose the question has been to analyse the internal structures of his writing and, at the same time, to compare the ideas within the Academica to those within other works.
