The Effect of the Arousal of Pain on Risk-Taking Behavior
Abstract
The Present study tested the hypothesis that the arousal of pain will influence risk-taking behavior. The study involved 40 participants who all attended Huron University College, an affiliate to the University of Western Ontario. All subjects were presented with one of four booklets. Each booklet contained two risk questionnaires, and either a pain tolerance questionnaire or a quotation questionnaire. Contrary to previous research, no significant findings, interactions or main effects were found. Implications and future studies are discussed.
