Information Questions in Malagasy Dialects: Official Malagasy and Antakarana
Abstract
The goal of this paper is to investigate the form and structure of information questions in two dialects of Malagasy: Official Malagasy (OM) and Antakarana (Ant). Questions in both of these languages take the form of a cleft, although this is not obvious from the word order. We provide evidence for this claim, building on existing analyses of OM.
