Submission Guidelines for Discussions on University Science Teaching.  Volume 2 – Proceedings of the 2017 Western Conference on Science Education

Process

WCSE DUST welcomes submission of previously unpublished manuscripts arising from Conference presentations.   Although open to creative deviance, WCSE DUST editors recommend that submissions adhere to either of the two following formats:

1. Extended abstracts
These should be 1200-1500 words in length, must include references and may include images.

2. Articles
These should be approximately 2500-3000 words in length and must include an abstract and references. In addition, images and tables may be included.

Work originally presented as a Poster or Ignite Talk is welcome if reworked into one of the above formats.
Submissions are made through the link on the WCSE DUST site.
Papers will be double-blind peer-reviewed for clarity, organization, and coherence as well as relevance to science education and interest to the intended audience.
Final manuscripts will be published online only.

Format and Style Guidelines

Manuscripts must be prepared in English as a single Microsoft Word document in APA format. Useful links on APA format can be found at:

The font is to be 12 point Calibri, single spaced with left justification.
The margins – top and bottom, left and right – are to be 1 inch.
Do not include headers or footers.
The name(s) of the author(s) and other identifiers that would compromise the anonymity of the review process should not appear in the original submission of the manuscript.
If a submission contains tables, graphs or figures, they should be included in the manuscript where they would appear in a published version.
Include up to 6 keywords.
Images should be original, and clearly understandable in black and white, although they may be submitted in colour.
All original research involving human subjects must cite the approval of the authors’ institutional ethics review board.
At the end of your document, but before the references, if relevant, you should include an acknowledgement section that should include: (i) funding and other support, and, (ii) IRB approval (if relevant).
