Abstract

Higher education in STEM disciplines plays an increasingly important role in the modern world. With the evolution of new technologies, increased student expectations, public accountability and ubiquitous access to information, the only constant seems to be change itself. Creating appropriate learning environments in this climate requires creativity, vision and effective balancing of the opportunities against the challenges particular to science education. This presentation will examine these opportunities and challenges in the context of three major themes—learning, laboratories, and logistics.
