Peer Review Information
Manuscripts submitted to Journal for Social Thought (JST) are reviewed under a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers may be members of the JST editorial board who have expertise in the area of the individual submission, as well as external volunteer reviewers. Such volunteer reviewers can be other qualified recent or current graduate students, post doctoral students, or university instructors and professors.
The editorial board of the JST first reads all submitted manuscripts. In consideration of time and efficiency for all parties involved, only those papers with the strongest potential of meeting our editorial criteria are sent for formal peer review. Papers that the editors consider to be of insufficient general interest or otherwise inappropriate are declined promptly without additional review (although these decisions may be based on informal advice from specialists in the field). Final review and acceptance decisions are made by the editorial board on the recommendation of the two reviewers.
Prospective and accepted reviewers should read the JST Peer Reviewer Instructions document that outlines the roles and responsibilities of JST reviewers, as well as provides guidance for the process.
Peer Reviewer Recruitment
The JST is currently recruiting peer reviewers! If you are interested in becoming a peer reviewer, please complete our online Peer Reviewer Application Form and upload your signed copy of the Confidentiality Agreement for JST Peer Reviewers.
You are eligible to become a peer reviewer if you are a qualified recent or current graduate student, a post doctoral student, a university instructor or professor, or an independent researcher (who is reviewed by the editorial board). Once you are approved as a JST peer reviewer, our editorial board may contact you with a request to review work that fits within your particular area and/or methodologies of expertise. Please be advised that we may not be able to utilize all of our peer reviewers each year, but we will keep your contact information on file for future issues. If you change your information from your initial application please email us to update our database. If you would no longer like to be a peer reviewer for the JST please also send us an email to prevent future requests for reviews.
