The Art of Stained Glass in Canada

This site explores the stained glass art produced for and in Canada from the late nineteenth century until today. The content is organized by artist and/or studio. This site is a result of work produced through a research collaboration with Dr. Cody Barteet, a professor of Art History at Western and Western Libraries Research and Scholarly Communication's team. Working directly with Courtney Waugh (Assistant Librarian), Barteet and Waugh have developed the Stained Glass Artists repository, hosted through Western Libraries' Scholarship@Western. Through research grants, Barteet has worked with graduate students and a postdoctoral fellow to expand the database while also engaging in curricular and academic research programs, including exhibitions (2021, 2023) and digital publications (2021, 2022, 2023) .

This site consists of many examples of stained glass art found in Southern Ontario. However, our scope is not limited to Ontario as we seek to document artistic glass across Canada. Indeed, our goal is to draw attention to the extensive collections of stained glass found throughout Canada.
